'Schtrosse vo Rynach' – A musical collaboration between ISB students and our local community
Posted 07/09/2017 14:23

Student musicians at the Reinach Campus can now add “studio recording artist” to their resumés following an exciting collaboration with local composer Aernschd Born and the Gemeinde Reinach in May/June 2017! Come to see a special acoustic performance by members of the Reinach Choir as part of the festivities celebrating the opening of “Treffpunkt Leimgruberhaus”.

DATE: 16 September
TIME: 17:30
PLACE: Treffpunkt Leimgruberhaus (in case of rain at the Gemeindesaal)

To celebrate the opening of the “Treffpunkt Leimgruberhaus” (a new culture center in Reinach), the Gemeinde Reinach commissioned Basel singer-songwriter Aernschd Born to write an original ‘Reinach song’ (with a text in local Swiss German). Doris Auer - the Head of Culture and Encounters with the Reinach Gemeinde - contacted ISB to ask if student musicians could sing/play Mr. Born’s song. Twelve members of the ISB Reinach Choir – plus three instrumentalists – were selected to take part in this unique project. Intensive practice and preparation took place between mid-May and the beginning of June, with Mr. Born playing an active role in shaping the piece’s performance and interpretation. Following the rehearsal process, Schtrosse vo Rynach (“Streets of Reinach”) was recorded at the Noizzproduktionzz Studio in Biel-Benken. CDs have been produced, and the track will be made available (both on CD and mp3) to all current and new Reinach residents from Wednesday, September 13th. Listen online here!

ISB was approached for this collaboration as a result of the Reinach Choir’s performance at the Tag der Wirtschaft in November 2016 (at which the ensemble sang the Baselbieterlied in the local Swiss German dialect). It has been an exceptional and musically fulfilling opportunity for our student musicians. The process of preparing for and executing a successful studio recording proved to be both exacting and exhilarating, providing a fascinating insight into the music industry. This project was also a wonderful way for us to further connect and collaborate with our local community. Bravo to all the wonderful student musicians who gave so generously of their time and talent to bring this song to life!

Members of the Reinach Choir will be performing an acoustic version of Schtrosse vo Rynach, as well as other music, at 17:30 on Saturday, 16 September as part of the festivities celebrating the opening of “Treffpunkt Leimgruberhaus”. This will take place outside the new building or – if it rains – in the Gemeindesaal. We look forward to seeing everyone there!
